COATIX® EP 4090 Thixotropic Top Coat
COATIX® EP 4090 Thixotropic Top Coat is a two-component, solvent-free, thixotropic, epoxy resin-based, coloured top coat material. After being spread with a trowel, it is rolled with a coral (effect) roller to obtain a textured surface with an orange-peel appearance. Its distinctive features are high surface hardness, high mechanical strength, water and chemical resistance and ease of cleaning. Its textured surface gives the coating slip resistance; thanks to its thixotropic structure, it can be applied on ramps and sloping surfaces without sagging. It is applied as a top coat on metal or concrete surfaces after a suitable primer coat.
Areas of Use
• Factories, warehouses, workshops and aircraft maintenance hangars
• Shopping centres, terminals, exhibition and trade fair areas
• Schools, hospitals, offices and workplaces
• Pharmaceutical, paint, paper and food industry facilities and laboratories
• Industrial kitchens, canteens and laundries
• Multi-storey and underground car parks, ramps and loading areas
• Treatment plants, plant rooms and maintenance workshops
• Areas with heavy forklift traffic and corrosive chemicals
• Horizontal applications requiring slip resistance
• Indoors, as a top coat on concrete or metal surfaces after a primer coat
Advantages
• Solvent-free; can be applied safely in enclosed spaces
• Does not sag on ramps and sloping surfaces thanks to its thixotropic structure
• Its textured surface with an orange-peel appearance gives the coating slip resistance
• High mechanical strength and abrasion resistance
• Resistant to many chemicals and inorganic acids
• Forms a seamless, hygienic surface; suitable for sterile conditions
• Liquid-tight; easy to clean, low maintenance costs
• Quick and easy to apply with a trowel and coral roller
• Can be produced in a wide range of RAL colours

The technical values stated were obtained at +23°C ambient temperature and 50% relative humidity; times are extended as ambient and surface temperatures fall and shortened as they rise. As viscosity increases at low temperatures, consumption also increases. Consumption values are theoretical; they vary depending on the absorbency and roughness of the surface and the application method. For exact consumption, a controlled trial application must be carried out on site.
