Application of external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS)

Surface preparation

Care must be taken to ensure that the application area is durable, dry, clean, dust-free and suitable for the next steps. The surface must be free of all oil, rust, thick lubricating oil and paraffin residues that will weaken the adhesion, the surface must be free of debris and the surface must be saturated with moisture. The surface should be primed with UNIVERSAL ASTAR to reduce its absorbency and provide a durable adhesion surface. Excess iron debris and wood chips must be removed and any gaps must be repaired on the surface two days in advance with a suitable TAMCRETE® repair material.

Application

The THERMOMAX® EPS thermal insulation boards are applied with THERMOMAX® adhesive. The adhesive is applied to the surface of the board with a combed trowel along the edges and placed in 6 points in the middle, or it is applied completely with a combed trowel. The THERMOMAX® DBL 80 dowel must be applied at least 24 hours after adhesive application. Uncut whole boards should be used to prevent future cracks and breaks in door and window corners. Window, door and building corners are plastered with THERMOMAX® FKP mesh corner profile. The first layer of plaster should be applied at least 24 hours after the application of the adhesive. Homogeneous plaster thickness should be 2 mm (in average). The THERMOMAX® ST plaster reinforcement mesh is carefully attached to the plaster before it dries. Plaster reinforcing mesh should be connected in such a way that they cover each other by 10 cm in width and length. After the second plaster application, the correct smooth surface is obtained. The homogeneous thickness of the second layer of plaster should be 1 mm (in average).

Decorative plaster application

The THERMOMAX® CLASSIC or THERMOMAX® UNIVERSAL decorative plaster is spread on the pre-primed surface with a hard trowel. Depending on the weather conditions, a pattern is applied to the surface with circular movements with a plastic or polyurethane trowel within about 10-20 minutes. The trowel should be cleaned frequently while applying the pattern. In use, the thickness of the plaster applied should be adjusted according to the size of the largest grain in the material.
